It seems like only yesterday that we were writing about the last homepage redesign from Twitter. That one was all about bringing search to the fore, and making ‘real time’ a much greater focus on activities.
The most recent revamp – just a month ago, brings users’ attention to sharing the topics that people are tweeting about, and showcasing ‘top tweets’.
To highlight the ‘what’s happening right now’ element, the homepage has a moving scroll of trending topics, updated in real-time.
If you’ve already got a Twitter account, you can hover over the trends causing a description to appear, which explains why the keyword has been popular.
The homepage also includes a sample of people who use Twitter. It’s possible to see their profile summary and their latest tweet.
On their blog Twitter said that they wanted to “embrace the notion that Twitter is not just for status updates anymore. It’s a network where information is exchanged and consumed at a rapid clip every second of the day.”
Twitter have also said that they plan to introduce new ways in which users can filter the timeline of Tweets on their individual home pages.
