Softwate Update

Well here we are Webbies our first post of 2012. Sorry we have been so quiet this year but our Development team are hard at work creating some great new features.

As you may know HTML5 is becoming a more prominent feature in Web Development as of late and we here at Webeden always like to move with the times.  With Apple making it very public that it does not and will not support flash on it’s iOS devices (iPad, iPhone and iPod)  we felt the need to act, and act we have.

Already we have put in place HTML mobile version of all our sites, so any users that visit our sites using a device that does not support flash will be directed to the correct version. We feel we need to go even further with this, so have locked away the Development team until they have completed the task in hand.

We have decided to make your ENTIRE site into HTML5, this means that you will have the ability to show the user the Flash version of your site or the HTML5 version. The Development team are working on making the HTML5 version as similar as possible to the Flash version.

Click on the example below to see the differences:

What does this mean for Flash and Webeden?

We still see Flash as a huge part of Web Development and the Web as a whole and will keep the Editor itself in Flash as we feel it still provides the best drag and drop features of any other language.

So just to round up in Q3  (july-sep) 2012, Webeden users will have the option of publishing their site in Flash or HTML5 by default. Any new sites made after this launch will auto publish in HTML5.

The reason for all this is that HTML5 is the future and we here at Webeden love the future and look forward to it and sharing it with you.

So when are we going to see this? Fairly desperate for it!

Could you please at least show your customers some courtesy and stop ignoring this issue. When will you deliver a product that will allow your customers content to be sensibly viewed on the most prolific devices in the marketplace. Might help also if you answer this as opposed to just removing it! many thanks in anticipation.

Errm before we answer this how are we ignoring the issue? If you actually read our latest blog posts you can see that we have been updating you with release dates. However unfortunately these have not been meant and we have apologised for this. This is also the reason why we are cautious to mention further target dates as a minority of Webeden Customers take this as gospel and then slag us off for “lying” and “braking promises” or even not showing “customers courtesy.” Also what comments have we removed of yours?

Craig. Your reply above is now 19 days old. Many of us are losing customers to competitors with modern facilities on a daily basis as, I guess, are you. Maybe a quick word every 2 or 3 days days isn’t too much to ask?

        • webeden

Hi Don, I will assume that that last comment was ment for us and not Craig. A quick word to say what? That we have no updates? I can assure you when we do have anything concrete we will update all our customers. However we do not want to post anything that is not confirmed. If it is imperative for you to have a Website that can display properly on a tablet device that doesn’t support flash then I would advise you not to use Webeden. You are more than welcome to come back to us when we do have the update in place.

Hi. Yes, I think a few words to say that you have no updates and to thank your customers for their patience is infinitely better than weeks of silence.
And, whilst I’m sure everyone is welcome to come back to Webeden when the updates are in place, in all practicality, having gone through the process of registering with another web-builder, building new sites and transferring domains, do you think that’s likely?
I think a little more professional courtesy wouldn’t go amiss.

Hi Don, I have passed your thoughts and comments on to the management team here at Webeden. Thank you for sharing your views with us.

You’re welcome. Glad to see they had such a huge effect.
