Softwate Update Video Tutorials

We thought it as about time for our third tutorial. We’ve kept it simple, just a step on from editing text. A very popular reason to build a website is in order to display photos. With Webeden.co.uk you can do this to a private few people (of your choice, obviously!), or make them public to the world at large. Here’s a video guide to uploading images:

How did you find that? What do you want to see next? Leave us a comment below.

Is there a problem with uploading pix today (Monday)?

I’ve tried a couple of images and keep getting an error message? Is it me?!

So sorry, we’re having real problems today with server and database issues. I’m told they will be resolved ‘shortly’. Until then, please leave it until 2.30.

Will do. BTW – please delete my blog posting – keeping a record of a temporary glitch that will be solved in half an hour or so seems like a waste of your blog space. I don’t mind :-)

I can’t upload any photos currently? Also the photos I have uploaded previously no longer pop up? Any suggestions?

  • admin

    Hi John,

Are you still having this problem? Rather than share your username on the blog, do you want to give us a call? Its 0845 026 1045. Please ask for Ray.

    Thanks,
    Ken

John – are your photos very large? you can make them loads smaller and still get a good effect – means that loading up is much quicker and less likelyhood of things hanging up on you?

There are lots of free gizmos out there that will batch resize your photos for you – so you don’t need to edit them one at a time.

The problem seemed to correct itself but its happening again. Don’t think its to do with the picture size, I can’t even get the image box to open to select an image to upload? I click on ‘insert’ then select ‘images’ then ‘my files’ then nothing happens? Also having the problem again with the Pop Up gallery? The pictures won’t pop up, second time this has happened?

  • admin

    Hi Jon,

Please can you give us a call about this so we can work out what’s happening? Its 0845 026 1045. Please ask for Ray.

I think my problem is related to my anti virus program stopping the pictures popping up? I’ll give Ray a ring though. Cheers John.

    Hi,

I have uploaded a blog page on my website but I have found that its not possible to have more then one image on any blog item. Is this correct ? is there any way I coul have more than one image?
    thanks
    Jayne

  • admin

    Hi Jayne,

I’m afraid its not possible to have more than 1 image on any blog item.

  • Jayne

    Hi Ken,

yes I thought it must be.

I have been considering starting a blog with wordpress which allows multiple images.
Would it be possible for one of my pages to be a word press blog ?

I know that souds a bit complicated but I have seen it done on other sites.
    thanks
    Jayne

  • admin

    Hi Jayne,

You can’t integrate WordPress with your WebEden website, as it works in a completely different way.

But what you could do is link to your WordPress blog as an external site. You could then include links on your blog back to your main site.

I am using the trial version of Web Eden and really like it. I am creating a photography website but find teh uploading process inhibitory. Is there a way to upload many pics in bulk from the folder onto the web page?

    Many Thanks,
    Sarah

  • admin

    Hi Sarah,

You can bulk upload from your PC to the folder, but not bulk upload from the folder to your site – there is no faster way to do this I’m afraid.

I’m trying to upload some content into a new webpage i’m working on, but i’m not getting a browser window pop up when i try to either upload any files/images or when i try to manage my files… any help would be appriciated.

  • admin

    Hi Des,

Are you in edit mode – logged into your site and with the edit control panel up? If not, click ‘edit my site’ when you are logged in.

Are you then able to open the file manager (the folder icon)?

If these questions don’t help, then please can you send me your username etc. to ken@webeden.net

    Thanks

Hi, is there a problem with the web builder site today. I am unable to access MyFiles folder to upload files and images in Edit mode?

  • admin

    Hi Colin,

We’ve have no reports here of general issues. At the risk of sounding like a typical computer support bod, please can you try logging out and in again to see if that helps?

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,

I discovered that the source of my problem was enabling the Ad Blocker in Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Once I disabled this the problem was resolved and I was able to access MyFiles folder and upload as normal. When I had finished uploading I re-enabled the Ad Blocker until I next need to edit the site. Many thanks for your prompt attempt to assist.

    Regards,

    Colin

    Hi Colin,

That’s a relief! I’m glad the problem is solved.

We’ll make sure to pass your advice on to other WebEden customers.

    Hiya – Happy New Year!!

I’m currently looking at several ways of setting up a new site on which I only need a few pages (<5) and a gallery of photos to be available to buy online however I need to ensure users can’t right click and copy/paste these.. not bothered about screenshot facilities as don’t believe we cqan avoid this?

If we choose to use garden eden can I check if :
    1) can we protect (prevent copy and paste of ) images in a gallery..?
    2) would I need at a minimum the STANDARD price plan to enable these to be bought online.. I’m presuming this is “e-commerce tools”..?

Many thanks in advance for your help – great site with FAB facilities for non techys loving it…

    Lucy :)

  • admin

    Hi Lucy,

Happy New Year to you – and thanks for your nice comments!

    1) Yes, you can protect (prevent copy and paste) of your images in a gallery.

When you set up the gallery there is a box that you need to untick that says ‘Allow people to download’.

    2) Yes, you’d need the standard price plan for these to be bought online, and it will be through Paypal.

Good luck, let us know if you’ve got an problems!

Hi Ray, Ken & the Wed Eden team, I’m enjoying using the Web Eden website to build our new site but I’m having trouble uploading any images at all in any format. I am on the lite package.

I can insert the pre-provided images in the library on the site but am unable to upload any of my own. When I try, I get an error -1. I read somewhere that this error is something to do with proxy servers but would be grateful for any advice.

    Many thanks! Sam.

  • Ray

    Hi Sam,

Can you email me the images you are trying to use and i will see if i can replicate the error.

    ray@webeden.org

  • Sam

Hi Ray, thanks for the prompt response. It’s all images I’m afraid, in any format and any size! Can’t upload a single one, though I can use the ones provided in the Web Eden library. I’ll email you the error message I am receiving and some example images to see if you can replicate it. Thanks – really appreciate the help!

  • Ray

    @sam. All sorted now.

  • Sam

Thanks Ray and team! You’re the best.
